We don’t sing “Showers of Blessing” much anymore. O, maybe the odd church does, but we’ve moved on to other expressions of these same truths. Scripture does encourage variety in music, doesn’t it with the words “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.”
In Ephesians 1:3-14 Paul bursts into praise for the blessings Christ has provided for Christians.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,….”
The blessings we have received come to us because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Biblically speaking, there is only ONE GOD and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Many ‘faiths’ have defiantly sought to replace this Mediator with substitutes who have no access into God’s presence.
In chapter 3 Paul will remind us that it is “in CHRIST and through FAITH in CHRIST” that we have freedom and confidence. Let’s access all that God has for us through Jesus Christ. If we do, our hearts will be filled with praise like Paul.
So how do you praise God? What blessings are you grateful for today? Write your own expression or join me through this day as I sing, “Praise God from whom all blessings flow!”
