“THROUGH JESUS let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that confess His name.” (Hebrews 13:15)
Peter launches into the body of his first letter with a burst of praise.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” (1 Peter 1:3a)
Why? Because of WHO God is and WHAT He has done. Daily we should take inventory of these truths and express our gratitude to God. Praise may come through prayer, through singing, through testifying to God’s grace, through any expression which honours God and declares the wonders He has done.
How do we know God? Through the Lord Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and men. (1 Timothy 2:5) We may approach God with freedom and confidence when we come in Jesus’ name. (Ephesians 3:12)
How may we approach God? Through the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Way for anyone to come to God. (John 14:6) We don’t have to go to some holy site or line up and wait for an appointment with some ‘religious’ official. No, we may come, we must come ourselves through the One who has opened up for us a “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:19,20).
What would keep us from praise? What would prevent us from opening our mouths and declaring what God has done? Those who have access to God’s grace and peace ‘in abundance’ (1 Peter 1:2b) should certainly have plenty of reasons to praise!
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow!” Don’t you think today is a good day to sing the ‘Doxology?’
